Burnley Football Club was founded in May 1882 in Burnley, Lancashire England. From the beginning the club only played friendly games but in 1885 they entered the FA-Cup for the first time.
Burnley, or Clarets as they are also called, is one of the twelve members that founded the Football League in 1888.
Some of the clubs greatest moments are the FA-Cup win in 1914 and the two Community Shield wins in 1969 and 1973. They also managed to grab a quarter-final spot in the European Cup in 1961.
The team has since 1883, played their home games at Turf Moor, before that, they resided on Calder Vale.
